Teaching Mate for Android
The Teaching Mate app puts your courses on your phone. It downloads the courses in your library, so lessons, audio, quizzes and flashcards work without the internet too, and your results go to your account when the phone is back online. It is free.

What the app does
- Everything the website does for learners: your library and your groups' courses, the public library, lessons, pages, quizzes, flashcards, class results and the aquarium.
- Works offline. The courses in your library are downloaded to the phone, with their pictures and recordings, and updated when they change. Results made offline wait on the phone and are sent when there is a connection.
- Signs in like the website: with your email and password or PIN, or with Google. Your progress is the same on the phone and in the browser.
- Speaking exercises use the microphone. Android asks for permission the first time; you can always skip speaking.
- Updates itself. When a new version is out, the app offers it when it starts. Tap Install and Android asks you to confirm.
- Shared phones: several learners can use one phone and switch between their accounts in the menu.
How to install it
- On your Android phone, open this page and tap Download the app.
- Open the downloaded file,
teaching-mate.apk. - The first time, Android asks whether your browser may install apps. Allow it for this one install.
- Tap Install, then open Teaching Mate and sign in.
When the app later updates itself, Android asks once more whether Teaching Mate may install apps: that permission is only for its own updates.
Teachers: courses and groups are made in the Studio, which runs in a web browser on a computer or a tablet: myteachermate.com/studio. The app is for learning, and teachers can learn in it too.
No phone with Android?
Teaching Mate works in any modern web browser, on iPhones and iPads, Chromebooks, Windows and Mac computers. Open myteachermate.com and sign in; your progress is the same everywhere.
Privacy in the app
The app counts no visits and shows no ads. It stores your sign-in, settings and the downloaded courses on the phone, and sends your learning results to your account. What is stored and why is in the privacy policy.
